I know I’m not supposed to play favorites, but this is such a good group of recipes. They all make me so happy and fit together so well.

I also wanted to include a little note about how my family actually eats, since lots of people ask me if my kids eat what I make. Here’s how it goes—I make one thing each night. My oldest (10) is an enthusiastic eater and will eat anything. My middle (7) loves sweets and french fries, and is getting more adventurous as she gets older. My littlest (4) eats like four crackers and a yogurt once a week, but somehow keeps growing. I mostly make what I want, hope for the best, and make sure there’s something on the table for everyone, even if it’s just bread and butter, or rice or something like that. I don’t worry too much about any particular meal and figure it all evens out over time. Everyone has to try everything, and if they REALLY don’t like it after giving it a fair shake, they can have a bowl of cheerios.

Okay, here we go.

Make Ahead: Quickie Matzo Ball Soup

As I say in the recipe note, this is not your Bubbe’s chicken soup. It’s quick, and great to have on the stove or in the fridge/freezer for when the sniffles run through your house. The key is Better Than Bouillon, which tastes more like homemade broth than boxed broth or stock.
